Amalfi Ristorante Italiano
1351 W 86th St
Indianapolis IN United States
The story of Amalfi Ristorante Italiano is the story of the American dream. In 1991, two generations of the DiRosa family left Naples, Italy to establish a warm and cozy restaurant in America. The plan was to bring the family’s most cherished recipes here and share them with food lovers who craved the taste of authentic Italian cuisine, not the pale imitations that pass for Italian food at American chain restaurants. Space was found tucked away in a quiet corner on the northwest side of Indianapolis. Italian oil paintings were hung to evoke the beauty and romance of a beloved homeland. Italian music provided a relaxing atmosphere in which meals could be truly enjoyed and the conversation could flow for hours. The wine cellar was stocked with selections sure to enhance any meal. And then the family opened the doors and started serving some of the mouthwatering Italian cuisine Indianapolis had ever seen. Or tasted. Today, Mario DiRosa and his mother, Pina, continue to rule the kitchen and roll the gnocchi, while Mario’s wife Joni runs the operations and warmly greets all who come in search of Italian cuisine.
