Old Glory Bar-B-Que
3139 M Street NW
Washington DC United States
A lively nightspot for the young Georgetown crowd, Old Glory boasts barbecue prepared in sauces and styles from around the US: steaks, ribs, chops and burgers from Memphis, East Carolina, El Paso, Kansas City and places in between. The menu offers a reasonably priced selection of salads, grilled veggies and sandwiches for the less carnivorous. Housed in colonial brick, Old Glory flies two large American flags, from which it takes its name. The interior's casual, bare-wood design fittingly evokes the countryside, but there are features that might be overlooked by the late night bar patrons - the main dining area features a mural from Thomas Hart Benton's "The Arts of Life in America: Arts of the West," and the "Four Winds" bar is a 110 year-old vestige of a Memphis barbecue restaurant. The owners, Capital Restaurants, have done their best to capture the "food, flavor, and feel of the great southern barbeque restaurants of the US,."
